Early Pepperdines
Origin of the name

Follow the links to "tree" on the left to trace descendants of one or other of the five 18th Century marriages in Lincolnshire from which all subsequent Pepperdines are descended. For narrative descriptions of a few particular individuals in those trees use the links to "tales"

If you are seeking a connection to one of these trees it is suggested that you open one tree at a time and use the "find on this page" facility in your browser to look for a particular forename. You will then be able to trace this individual back through the generations using the allocated references known as "Henry Numbers". (e.g. 5.2.1 is son of 5.2 who is son of 5)

The Early link summarises what appears to be the spread of the family in Lincolnshire before the mid 18th Century.
The last link on the left leads to an examination of what is known about the origin of the name. On balance it is most likely that branches of the Pedwardine family changed there name to Pepperdine after they left the manor at Burton Pedwardine in Lincolnshire but we have no proof of this.
